THE HISTORY OF LOCKSMITHING

Locksmith is believed to have started around 4,000 years ago in Egypt and babylon. Back then, locks were large and made out of wood. Unlike today where they're made out of metals. Even though they were made from different materials, they were used for the same purpose. Locks were a display of status and wealth. It showed that you had valuables that are worth securing.
